Quehenberger focuses on sustainability: Reduction of over 80 percent of CO2 emissions through the use of HVO

The management of Quehenberger Logistics announces that the company has secured an annual supply of 3 million litres of HVO biogenic fuel for 2024. Diesel is to be replaced as far as possible by the environmentally friendly biogenic fuel in Quehenberger's entire vehicle fleet.

HVO, short for Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils, is produced from vegetable waste and animal fats.

The great advantage of this biogenic fuel is that it can be used directly as a diesel substitute in existing vehicles.

The use of HVO brings with it a number of environmental benefits

1.    An immense reduction in CO2 emissions. Quehenberger has set itself the ambitious goal of reducing its total CO2 emissions by 32 per cent annually as part of the company's own Q Zero project. By using the latest technology in the area of commercial vehicles, up to two per cent of fuel can be saved in addition to CO2.

2.    Reduction of particulate emissions: Compared to conventional diesel fuel, HVO can reduce particulate matter emissions by 33 per cent.

Forward-looking responsibility

The decision to use HVO as an alternative energy source is part of Quehenberger's long-term environmental strategy.

Quehenberger Logistics wants to achieve climate neutrality by 2040 with the company's own "Q-zERo emissions" project. The project includes sustainability targets in line with the three pillars of ecology, social affairs and economy, targets to create added value and reduce CO2

and to continue to promote and implement innovations. In addition, the project is aligned with the goals of the government, the EU and the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

With this project and the next important steps, such as the use of HVO, Quehenberger is sending a clear signal in favour of responsible and future-oriented business practice and underlining its commitment to sustainable development.
