Quehenberger Logistics Russia – "the best shipping company in Russia 2010" – are extending their vehicle fleet in Russia to meet increasing customer demands in this market. The company has been particularly successful in automotive logistics due to its specific, long-standing experience in Russia. This is why the company's own network is constantly being extended, as company spokesperson Hermann Költringer emphasised today (14 November) at the company's principal office in Straßwalchen.
Company-owned vehicle fleet is being expanded
To further meet the booming automotive industry's demands and ensure supply to production lines even during peak times, Quehenberger Logistics are expanding their vehicle fleet by ten mega trailers on 33 trucks. Each has a volume of up to 100 cubic metres, making a perceptible optimisation of transport costs possible, particularly for light supplier parts such as car seats, bumper bars and interior trim.
Booming automotive logistics
The Russian automobile industry is one of the large growth industries. Moscow is calling for auto manufacturers to set up production capacities in Russia. This new law offers Quehenberger Logistics an excellent opportunity to expand business, as the company has specific experience and industry knowledge in intra-Russian acquisition logistics, due to long-standing work for a large automotive plant in St. Petersburg among other things. The company demonstrates its expertise through numerous new customers of the automotive industry. For an international auto part supplier, Quehenberger are in charge of supply from Western Europe to its St. Petersburg plant, and of deliveries to the VW plant in Kaluga as well as to the Hyunday plant in St. Petersburg. A well-known tyre manufacturer has commissioned Quehenberger with warehouse management operations for car and truck tyres in Moscow as well as country-wide distribution in Russia. Although most requests to date regarding transport to Russia have been for full truck loads, groupage freight transportation is now becoming increasingly important. The reason for this is more immediate replenishment deliveries from the industry and also from consumer product manufacturers who are also aiming to progressively optimise their warehouses in Russia.
Award for expertise
Quehenberger Logistics Russia were awarded as the "Best Logistics Company in Russia" by the EuroAsian Logistic Association (EALA Russia), and are also the number one in "Transport and Dispatch in Supply Chains". The ELEA is a sister organisation of the European Logistics Association ELA, which counts both the Austrian and German federal logistics association among its members. Competing against renowned national and international logistics enterprises, Quehenberger came out on top. Complexity of logistics services performed, technical and technological facilities, expertise of the company and its employees, as well as the existing branch network in Russia made up the essential assessment criteria. Quehenberger Logistics currently operate eight locations with 120 employees in Russia, and have an extensive network of partners.
New customs union brings advantages
Quehenberger Logistics Russia are also active as a customs broker in Russia, and issue more than 90 percent of customs declarations in electronic form using the internet. In May 2011, Quehenberger Logistics Russia also began carrying out remote customs declarations at customs points between Russia and EU countries (Finland, Estonia, Latvia). The customs union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan came into effect on 1 July 2011. Resultingly, transport inspections between these countries have become redundant, and are relocated to their external borders.
