Quehenberger Logistics set up its first branch office in Croatia and is consolidating its presence in the Balkan area thanks to the Sveta Nedelja location. As a result, the Salzburg company has its own branch offices in 14 Central and Eastern European countries now; thus, it is able to operate in the Balkan area even better thanks to this new hub. Strategically situated – only five kilometres from Zagreb, the capital, and directly on the Ljubljana/Zagreb motorway – the local subsidiary boosts the groupage freight network of Quehenberger Logistics in Eastern Europe. CEO Christian Fürstaller: "One of our declared aims is setting up further locations in Central and Eastern Europe as fast as possible. This new location in Croatia represents an important step, especially in view of the EU enlargement in 2013."
Complex transport logistics
From the new Croatian hub it is possible to handle groupage freight transports to and from Western European countries, and to operate in the neighbouring Balkan area. Quehenberger Logistics runs groupage lines from Croatia to Germany, Austria, Slovenia and Serbia more times a week – domestic transports are accomplished in maximum 48 hours. Furthermore, Quehenberger Logistics arranges for the national and international transport management of full truck loads and less than truck loads in Sveta Nedelja. The product portfolio includes not only customs clearance, but also procurement and production logistics, warehouse and distribution logistics as well as reverse logistics. 1,200 square metres of warehousing space are immediately available for logistics services in the new location.
Ensuring our presence in the Balkan area
While Croatian economy declined in 2010, especially in the field of investment, experts expect a slight growth for the year 2011. Expectations are particularly positive with regard to food or pharmaceuticals export destined for Western and Northern Europe. And this will benefit Quehenberger Logistics, too: "The new local subsidiary enables us to specifically expand our Balkan network. When Croatia joins the European Union as of 1st July 2013, we will already be well placed; we are already present in a market characterised by severe competition", explains Davor Juracic, who leads the team of ten people in Sveta Nedelja as Managing Director.
The 45-year old logistics expert has been most recently General Manager with Viator&Vektor, a forwarding company in Zagreb, and prior to that Director of Sales, Marketing & Logistics with a major Croatian beverage manufacturer. Last but not least, he proved his excellent ability to work in a team as a professional player in the German handball club in Milbertshofen and in the Croatian national team.
