Against each other for a common cause

Today, for the third time, starts the annual kilometer “duel” -Charity Challenge- initiated by Commend International and SKIDATA in 2018. A competition where two teams each of sports-enthusiastic companies from Salzburg run against each other.

The companies compete with each other under the motto: Against each other for a common cause starting on June 15th, 2020 until September 15th, 2020. The goal is to collect kilometers while walking, hiking or running and donate the amount to “Herzkinder Österreich”.

This year Quehenberger Logistics is also part of the team – not only to pursue the sports spirit in the company during the difficult times of Corona or to compete against the challenger SKIDATA, but also to connect this Challenge with the importance of movement for a good purpose. Challenge accepted!

Last year the teams set the bar high with 45,000 kilometers in total and a donation of EUR 15,700,-. A strong motivation boost for this year`s participants which include Quehenberger Logistics, Findologic, Commend International, COPA-DATA, Digital Elektronik, nic.at, Salzburg Research and SKIDATA.

Participants – ready, set, go!

The rules of the Charity Challenge remain the same: Two teams each of two different companies compete against each other while collecting kilometers by running, hiking or walking. It is very simple: every employee of the participating company no matter if beginner in running, Nordic walking or a marathon runner records his/her kilometers directly or via smartwatch. The kilometers are counted or tracked via a new web portal, which can easily be connected with tracking apps or smart watches.

By the way: because of Corona and in times of solidarity employees of international branches of each company can also participate this year and register easily at the web portal for the competition in terms of the global “social distancing”.

Experts under the guidance of Michael Mayrhofer, who owns the patronage of the competition, will advise the participants when they have questions concerning their running technique or preparation and follow-up training.

The official partners of the Salzburg Business Run – Porsche Salzburg, Arbeiterkammer, Wirtschaftskammer, Salzburg AG, Salzburg Wohnbau and dm- also support the Charity Challenge 2020.

New companies are welcome, start at any time!

Companies can still join the Charity Challenge 2020 until July 15th, 2020.

The good purpose

The companies donate 0.20 EURO with every kilometer of their participants. But we already have a winner of this competition: the non-profit organisation “Herzkinder Österreich”. The average running performance per participating employee determines the overall sporting team victory.

Since the start three years ago the Charity Challenge has recorded a growth of running teams who compete according to the motto: against each other for a common cause.
