- Further expansion possible
"As a full-service provider, we have set ourselves the clear goal of focusing on our core industries, in which we have extensive knowledge, and with this location expansion we are taking the opportunity to optimise and expand our logistics solutions for the food and beverage industry.",
Quehenberger Logistics takes over 50,000sqm existing warehouse space on a 180,000sqm property in Loosdorf, Lower Austria from Hofer KG. For the logistics company this means a valuable resource for extension and further development of their contract logistics activities in Austria. The possibility of optimisation and further expansion at the new Loosdorf location has already been considered.
The logistics center is located directly next to the A1 and the Westbahn. The 50,000sqm warehouse has 40,000sqm of storage and cross-dock space, as well as 10,000sqm of cooling and deep-freeze storage space and 70 shutter gates. The extensive technical equipment, a workshop, truck wash and in-house petrol station at the location Loosdorf are a perfect fit to the existing Quehenberger network in Austria.
Near to the Center-of-Gravity
The new location is an important trans-shipment center within the Quehenberger Logistics network for the distribution of fast-moving consumer goods in Austria and to Eastern Europe.
Quehenberger is planning a cross-dock center and central logistics center for fast-moving consumer goods - including e-commerce solutions - at the Loosdorf location, for which it is perfectly suited due to its location and the available space.
Sustainable location safeguarding
The systemic importance of logistics became apparent during the corona crisis and Christian Fürstaller is convinced: the regional focus is increasing significantly.
For the municipality of Loosdorf, the takeover by Quehenberger Logistics means not only the creation of jobs, but also a sustainable strengthening of the region.
According to Quehenberger Logistics, the direct connection to the A1 simplifies distribution and shortens the distances from the manufacturer and to the customer. This will also be reflected in the savings in CO2 emissions.
The large photovoltaic system, the bus system and LED lighting system, as well as the possible rail connection, make the location a CO2 showcase project. In order to be prepared for the future, the option for an extension was already included in the concept.
"With this location expansion and the construction of 22,000sqm storage space at the headquarters in Strasswalchen near Salzburg this year, we can now expand our total warehouse space to 660,000sqm," says Rodolphe Schoettel, CFO and Managing Partner, satisfied.
