Last year, the pandemic resulted in very different types of "panic purchasing". While toilet paper, flour and pasta were hoarded in Germany and Austria, there were bought different products in other countries:
- France: baked goods (especially baguettes) and toothpaste
- Bulgaria: citrus fruits
- Scandinavians: paracetamol and insulin
- Italy and Spain: wine
- Netherlands: marijuana
- Czech Republic: bread and long-life food
- Israel: canned food, grains, rice and pasta
