Quehenberger Logistics forwarded 36 tons of medical airfreight from China via Tashkent to Salzburg

Quite a sensation - also for the employees on the apron at Salzburg Airport - when a Boeing B767 from Uzebkistan Airlines landed at the airport at 7 a.m. today and delivered around 36 tons of antigen tests and medical equipment to Salzburg. In times before the crisis, these long-haul aircrafts were used to transport passengers; nowadays airlines have to get creative and convert passenger planes into a freighter, so that these aircrafts can bring urgently needed, mostly medical cargo to its destinations during the pandemic. To carry out such projects, in particular Logistics professionals are required to handle all processes without any problems.

“Salzburg Airport and Quehenberger Logistics are linked by a thriving partnership for many years. Today was the day that we were able to successfully land and process our first cargo flight from China in Salzburg together. It is often important to find quick and efficient solutions - also for pre-planned charter flights. A trustful and uncomplicated cooperation with our reliable partner network worldwide and the solution orientation and flexibility of our air freight specialists are the basis for successful air freight projects ”
Gerhard Haslauer, Director Airfreight

In the pandemic, which has now lasted for almost 2 years, the need for mobility has changed. While travel restrictions mean that people can travel much less, medical products are urgently needed locally. “Currently we are welcoming fewer passengers, but we are happy if we can provide support with the supply of medical products. This is great for the airport and the entire team on the apron is happy when things are moving,” said airport authorized signatory Christopher Losmann. "We are expecting a second aircraft on Saturday, which the logistics professional Quehenberger will also fly to Salzburg," continues Losmann.
