In the logistics industry, companies face significant challenges in transporting their cargo safely, transparently, efficiently, and sustainably. Cargo theft and unused load space result in financial losses and negatively impact the entire supply chain. Quehenberger relies on artificial intelligence to overcome these challenges.

Theft Prevention

The annual damage caused by cargo theft in Europe is estimated at around €8.2 billion. The intelligent cameras used at Quehenberger detect manipulations and irregularities, while the software triggers alarms and notifies the responsible personnel. This ensures optimal theft prevention with minimal resource usage.

Every Millimeter of Load Space Should Be Utilized

The camera scans the entire load space within the trailer and reports available space in pallet units to the dispatcher. This space can then be immediately offered on freight exchanges.

"If all systems work together optimally, many things become possible: maximum load space utilization, selling available load space on the go, a perfectly secured cargo, and top-notch theft prevention with minimal resource usage," explains Mag. Robert Köbrunner, Head of Q Direct.

Challenges

A key aspect of this project was bringing all relevant stakeholders to the table. From transport specialists and camera technicians to drivers and security experts, everyone contributed their expertise. The project team now faces an extensive learning phase, during which the software will be trained with real-world use cases.

"For our team, this will initially mean more effort, but we are convinced that it will pay off," says Eugen Goss, Product specialist and Project manager.
