The Geis Group continues its growth trajectory: in January, its subsidiary Geis Air + Sea GmbH, which specialises in air and sea freight, opened a new location in Mönchengladbach. With this step, the logistics service provider strengthens its presence in North Rhine-Westphalia and expands its capacity for international transport solutions.

The new branch starts operations with a dedicated team of four, led by Marek Wetjen. The 51-year-old brings many years of experience in the logistics industry, including roles as branch manager and authorised signatory at Logwin, and most recently as Managing Director of Gate41 Logistics GmbH & Co. KG.

Together with our committed team on site and in close coordination with senior management, we will establish and consistently develop the Mönchengladbach location,” says Marek Wetjen. “Through close cooperation within Geis Air + Sea, we leverage synergies and create sustainable growth.

Strategic location with excellent connectivity

The key reason for choosing this location is its ideal infrastructure: Mönchengladbach is strategically positioned between major logistics hubs – the Port of Rotterdam, the inland port of Duisburg, and Düsseldorf and Cologne airports. In addition, Geis Air + Sea has deliberately positioned itself in close proximity to the Ruhr region, one of Europe’s most important economic and logistics areas. The high concentration of industrial, commercial and logistics companies creates strong market potential and enables the provision of tailored international transport solutions that are fast, flexible and close to the customer.

Focus on sea freight  air freight to follow in the medium term

At launch, the new location will focus on sea freight and rail transport services for both imports and exports. In the medium term, the portfolio will be expanded to include air freight solutions.

A particular added value of the team lies in its many years of fulfilment experience: Geis Air + Sea has already managed import-side sea freight operations holistically, including warehousing and distribution. This end-to-end perspective will also be applied in Mönchengladbach, complemented by an established network and strong customer relationships in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Strengthening the network, creating added value

For our customers, reliability, speed and solutions that integrate seamlessly into their supply chains are what matter most. That is exactly what Mönchengladbach represents: a strong location, an experienced team and short distances to the region’s key hubs,” explains Klaus Hrazdira, Head of the Air + Sea Services Business Unit at the Geis Group. “Together with our colleagues across the Geis Air + Sea organisation, we will consistently take the next steps – further developing our service portfolio, strengthening international connectivity and thus creating additional long-term value for our customers.”
