The extent of processing personal data depends on various factors, such as the services you have used, the services provided and utilized by us, as well as the nature and scope of the business relationship with you, etc.
Personal data refers to information that allows conclusions to be drawn about your person. This primarily includes personal details (name, address, date of birth, contact details, etc.) or identification data such as identification documents.
Personal data can be automatically collected through your visit to our website. Details regarding this can be found under the section "Visit/Usage of our Website."
We also process data that you provide to us, for example, when you:
- Use our inquiry form for customers
- Use our inquiry form for transport partners
- Utilize the online application form on our career portal
- Use the QAPP (for employees only)
Additionally, we may obtain data from publicly accessible sources (e.g., commercial register, land register) or from third parties, such as business partners, our affiliated companies, in the context of contract negotiations, or contract fulfillment.
If you have received or entered access data, user passwords, or passwords, the secure storage and confidentiality of this data are your responsibility.
-
We process personal data only to the extent necessary and exclusively in accordance with applicable legal provisions, especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and national data protection laws. Personal data is processed by us only for the purpose of carrying out pre-contractual measures, fulfilling contracts, and to fulfill other business interests or obligations, only to the extent that there is a legal basis for the processing, particularly for:
- Fulfillment of contractual obligations (Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR)
- Fulfillment of legal obligations (Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR)
- Preservation of legitimate interests (Legal basis: Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR)
If there is no legal basis, data will only be processed within the scope of your consent according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR. You are entitled to revoke your consent to data processing at any time with effect for the future. Revocation is possible at any time via informal email (datenschutz@quehenberger.com or dataprotection@quehenberger.com) or by post (AUGUSTIN QUEHENBERGER GROUP GMBH, Data Protection, Gewerbegebiet Nord 5, 5204 Straßwalchen).
If you receive a newsletter or participate in customer surveys based on your consent, revocation can also be made through the designated link in the email you received for this purpose.
-
Personal data will only be passed on to Group companies if legally permissible and insofar as this is necessary for the fulfilment of a contract (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR), for the fulfilment of legal obligations (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR), to answer an enquiry in accordance with your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR or to fulfil an order in accordance with your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR or on the basis of a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR or if you are interested in a position in one of our group companies in accordance with your consent pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR or on the basis of a legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR.
Within the company, only those departments or employees receive your data that need it to fulfil the contract (pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR), to fulfil legal obligations (pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. c GDPR) or to protect interests (pursuant to Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR). If a group company fulfils these tasks, your data will be forwarded to the company concerned.
In addition, processors commissioned by us (e.g. operators of a computer centre) will receive your data if they are required to fulfil their tasks. All processors (in other words, service partners who process data on our behalf) provide their services under a contract that complies with data protection regulations, which obliges them to treat your data confidentially and to process it only in the context of providing the service.
Your data will not be passed on to other uninvolved third parties, nor will we sell it to commercial users for advertising purposes.
-
We only transfer or process data in countries outside the EU (third countries) when you consent to such processing, when it is legally required, or contractually necessary, and in any case only to the extent permitted by law. In most cases, your consent is the primary reason for us to process data in third countries. Processing personal data in third countries, such as the USA, where many software providers offer services and have their server locations, may mean that personal data is processed and stored in unexpected ways.
We expressly point out that, in the opinion of the European Court of Justice, there is currently no adequate level of protection for data transfer to the USA. The processing of data by US services (such as Google Analytics) may result in data being processed and stored in a non-anonymized manner. Additionally, US government authorities may potentially access individual data. Furthermore, collected data may be linked with data from other services of the same provider if you have a corresponding user account. Whenever possible, we strive to use server locations within the EU, if offered.
We will inform you in more detail about data transfer to third countries, if applicable, in the appropriate sections of this privacy policy.
-
We have taken suitable technical and organisational measures to protect your data from loss, manipulation or unauthorised access. These measures are always adapted to the current state of the art.
-
Your personal data will only be stored for as long as it is necessary and lawful, otherwise within the scope of the retention obligations prescribed by law.
-
You have the right to request information, correction, data portability, and objection, as well as the deletion or restriction of the processing of your personal data at any time. Consents given for the processing of your personal data can be revoked at any time with future effect. However, the legality of processing your personal data until the revocation is not affected by such revocation.
If you believe that we are not processing your personal data in accordance with the law, we encourage you to contact us. You can communicate your concerns via datenschutz@quehenberger.com or dataprotection@quehenberger.com, or by mail to AUGUSTIN QUEHENBERGER GROUP GMBH, Data Protection, Gewerbegebiet Nord 5, 5204 Straßwalchen.
You also have the right to lodge complaints with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (if the data controller is an Austrian company) or with the data protection authorities in your respective country:

When you use our websites, our web servers automatically collect and store information (access data/server log files) that your browser transmits to us. This includes information about:
- Browser type
- Browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Hostname of the accessing computer (IP address)

1.2 Cookies
Summary of Cookies
- Affected parties: Website visitors
- Purpose: Varies depending on the cookie. More details are provided below or from the software manufacturer setting the cookie.
- Processed Data: Depends on the specific cookie used. More details are provided below or from the software manufacturer setting the cookie.
- Storage Duration: depends on the cookie in question, can vary from hours to years.
- Legal Bases: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (Consent), Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate Interests)
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your end device via the browser when you use our website. These text files contain information for the provision of user-friendly services and are read by web browsers. Cookies enable our website to recognise you so that our web server can present you with a more personalised, better, faster and more tailored website. Our website uses HTTP cookies to store user-specific data.
The question of which cookies we use in particular depends on the services used and is clarified in the following sections of the privacy policy. At this point, we would like to briefly explain the different types of HTTP cookies.
Basically, 4 types of cookies can be distinguished:
-
Essential Cookies
These cookies are necessary to ensure basic functions of the website. For example, they are needed when a user adds a product to the shopping cart, navigates to other pages, and later checks out. These cookies prevent the shopping cart from being cleared even if the user closes their browser window. -
Functional Cookies
These cookies collect information about user behaviour and whether the user receives any error messages. These cookies are also used to measure the loading time and the behaviour of the website with different browsers. -
Targeting Cookies
These cookies enhance user-friendliness. For example, they store entered locations, font sizes, or form data. -
Advertising Cookies
Also known as targeting cookies, these serve to deliver individually tailored advertising to users. This can be convenient but also quite annoying.
When you visit a website for the first time, you are usually asked which of these types of cookie you would like to allow. And of course, this decision is also stored in a cookie.
If you want to learn more about cookies and are not afraid of technical documentation, we recommend reading the Request for Comments from the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) titled “HTTP State Management Mechanism.”
Purpose of Processing via Cookies
The purpose ultimately depends on the cookie in question. In general, we only use Internet technologies (e.g. cookies, Java Script) to make it easier for you to use our website and to optimise our offer and your communication with our content:
- We use so-called session-related cookies to keep the current session active.
- We use cookies to analyse data. This enables us to recognise, for example, how our forms are accepted, how many visitors use our pages and which are the most frequently visited web pages.
- We use third-party cookies to improve your experience of our content and adverts.
We currently use the following cookies
Cookie, technology/providers Function Service life Google Analytics __utma Enables us to record visits and visitors. 2 years __utmz Determines which source / campaign the visitor comes from. 6 months __utmx A cookie that is placed specifically for testing and experimentation within Analytics. 26 months __utmt Used to throttle request rate 10 min __utmb Used to identify new visits. 30 min __utmc This is used in conjunction with __utmb to determine whether the visit is a new/repeat visit. Removed when the browser is closed __gat Function-related cookie whose purpose may vary. 2 years PHP PHPSESSID PHP Session Cookie Removed when the browser is closed What Data is Processed?
Cookies are little helpers for many different tasks. Unfortunately, it is not possible to generalise which data is stored in cookies, but we will inform you about the processed or stored data in the following privacy policy.
Cookies from third-party providers
Some third-party providers place cookies on your computer, in particular to register visitor behaviour and to personalise offers (including advertising). Depending on the platform, several cookies are set by third-party providers. You can find out how the third-party provider handles cookies on the relevant pages of the network. The information on the networks can be found in the table below. We have no control over third-party cookies. We therefore recommend that you check the respective third-party websites to see which cookies are used and how they can be managed. For common third-party providers such as Facebook, Google, etc., the ‘Digital Advertising Alliance’ offers an option to collectively opt out of all DAA companies.
Storage Duration of Cookies
The storage duration depends on the specific cookie and is clarified further below. Some cookies are deleted after less than an hour, while others may remain on a computer for several years.
You also have control over the storage duration. You can manually delete all cookies at any time through your browser (see also “Right to Object” below). Furthermore, cookies based on consent will be deleted no later than when you revoke your consent, while the legality of storage remains unaffected until then.
Legal Basis
The so-called ‘Cookie Guidelines’ have been in place since 2009. These state that the storage of cookies requires your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). However, there are still very different reactions to these directives within the EU countries. In Austria, however, this directive was implemented in Section 96 (3) of the Telecommunications Act (TKG). In Germany, the cookie directives have not been implemented as national law. Instead, this directive was largely implemented in Section 15 (3) of the Telemedia Act (TMG).
For strictly necessary cookies, even if no consent has been given, there are legitimate interests (Article 6 para. 1 lit. f GDPR), which in most cases are of an economic nature. We want to provide visitors to the website with a pleasant user experience and certain cookies are often absolutely necessary for this.
If cookies that are not absolutely necessary are used, this is only done with your consent. The legal basis in this respect is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a GDPR.
Management of cookies/objection
You will find setting options for the use of cookies in your browser menu. A browser usually has the following setting options:
- View cookies,
- Allow cookies,
- Disable all or certain cookies,
- Deactivate all cookies when closing the browser,
- Block cookies,
- Notify me when a cookie is to be set and
- Objection to tracking web analysis
For the following browsers, you can find the instructions for deactivating cookies on the manufacturer's website. If you block our cookies in your browser, you will not be able to use some areas of our website.
- Firefox
- Internet Explorer
- Chrome (Windows) / Chrome (Mac) / Chrome for iOS / Chrome for Android
- Safari

1.3 Web Analytics
- Affected: Website visitors
- Purpose: Evaluation of visitor information to optimize the web offering.
- Processed Data: Access statistics including data such as access locations, device data, access duration and time, navigation behavior, click behavior, and IP addresses.
- Storage Duration: Depends on the web analytics tool used
- Legal Bases: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (Consent), Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (Legitimate Interests)
What is Web Analytics?
We use software on our website to analyze the behavior of website visitors, referred to as web analytics. Data is collected, stored, and processed by the respective analytics tool provider (also known as tracking tools). This data is used to create analyses of user behavior on our website, which is made available to us as the website operator. Most tools also offer various testing options, allowing us to see which offers or content resonate best with our visitors. For example, we can show two different offers for a limited period and, after the test (known as an A/B test), we know which product or content our website visitors find more appealing. For such testing procedures, as well as for other analytics procedures, user profiles may also be created and data stored in cookies.
Why do we use Web Analytics?
With our website, we have a clear goal: to provide the best web offering in our industry. To achieve this, we want to offer the most interesting offerings while ensuring that you feel comfortable on our website. By using web analytics tools, we can closely examine the behavior of our website visitors and then improve our web offering accordingly. This helps us understand average visitor age, their origin, peak visiting times, and which content or products are particularly popular. All this information aids us in optimizing the website to meet your needs, interests, and wishes.
What Data is Processed?
The specific data stored depends on the analysis tools used. However, generally, information is stored about which content you view on our website, which buttons or links you click, when you visit a page, what browser you use, what device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.) you use to visit the website, and which operating system you use. If you consented to the collection of location data, this may also be processed by the web analytics tool provider.
Your IP address is also stored. According to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), IP addresses are considered personal data. However, your IP address is usually stored in a pseudonymized form (i.e., in an unidentifiable and shortened version). For testing, web analytics, and web optimization purposes, direct data such as your name, age, address, or email address are generally not stored. All data collected, if any, are stored pseudonymously, preventing your identification as an individual.
Duration of Data Processing
How long the respective data is stored always depends on the provider. Some cookies only store data for a few minutes or until you leave the website, while other cookies can store data for several years.
In general, we process personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services and products. In cases where it is legally required, such as for accounting purposes, this storage duration may be extended.
1.4 Google Retargeting/ Re-Marketing-Services
On the basis of our legitimate interests (i.e. interest in the analysis, optimisation and economic operation of our online offer within the meaning of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. GDPR), we use the marketing and remarketing services (‘Google Marketing Services’ for short) of Google Inc. GDPR) the marketing and remarketing services (‘Google Marketing Services’ for short) of Google Inc (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) (‘Google’).
Google Marketing Services allow us to display advertisements for our website—or on our website—in a more targeted manner, ensuring that users only see ads that are potentially relevant to their interests. For example, if a user is shown ads for products they have previously viewed on other websites, this is referred to as "remarketing."
For this purpose, when users visit our website or other sites where Google Marketing Services are active, Google immediately executes a code and embeds so-called (re)marketing tags (invisible graphics or code snippets, also known as "web beacons") into the website. These tags help store an individual cookie (a small file) on the user's device. Similar technologies may also be used instead of cookies.
These cookies can be set by various domains, including google.com, doubleclick.net, invitemedia.com, admeld.com, googlesyndication.com, or googleadservices.com. The cookie stores information about which websites the user has visited, what content they are interested in, and which offers they have clicked on. It also records technical details such as browser and operating system information, referring websites, visit duration, and other data regarding the use of the online service.
Additionally, the user's IP address is collected. However, as part of Google Analytics, we note that IP addresses are truncated within member states of the European Union or other signatory states of the European Economic Area agreement. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and then truncated. The IP address is not combined with user data from other Google services.
The information mentioned above may also be linked by Google with data from other sources. When the user later visits other websites, they may be shown personalized ads based on their interests.
User data is processed pseudonymously within the framework of Google Marketing Services. This means that Google does not store or process users' names or email addresses but instead processes relevant data on a cookie-based level within pseudonymous user profiles. From Google's perspective, ads are therefore not managed and displayed for a specifically identified person but rather for the cookie holder—regardless of who that may be. This does not apply if a user has explicitly allowed Google to process their data without pseudonymization.
The information collected by Google Marketing Services about users is transmitted to Google and stored on Google's servers in the USA.
Among the Google Marketing Services we use is the online advertising program Google AdWords. In the case of Google AdWords, each AdWords customer receives a unique "conversion cookie." This means that cookies cannot be tracked across the websites of different AdWords customers.
The information collected through these cookies is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted for conversion tracking. These statistics show the total number of users who clicked on an ad and were redirected to a page containing a conversion tracking tag. However, AdWords customers do not receive any information that could personally identify users.
We may also use the Google Optimizer service. Google Optimizer allows us to conduct A/B testing to analyze how different changes to a website (e.g., modifications to input fields, design, etc.) impact user behavior. For testing purposes, cookies are placed on users' devices. Only pseudonymous user data is processed in this context.
Additionally, we use the Google Tag Manager to integrate and manage Google analytics and marketing services on our website. The Tag Manager itself is a domain that does not set cookies or store any data. It functions purely as a manager for the implemented tags. The data is collected by the individual tags of various web analytics tools. In essence, the Google Tag Manager acts as a conduit, passing the data to the respective tracking tools without storing it.
